Hello~my name is Amber Alley Siepel, Birth and Postpartum Doula.
I am the mother of two fantastic teens (if I do say so myself) and I am a natural caretaker. I have always loved to make people’s lives a little easier and more joyful by feeding them, helping out with chores, and lending an ear when they’ve needed someone to talk to. I am particularly drawn to the topics of pregnancy and childbirth, and I never feel more content than when holding a newborn baby. One day, when speaking with a friend about my desire to make a career change, she asked me if I had ever thought about becoming a doula. It’s funny– without realizing it, I had actually been a sort of unofficial doula for many years; I had volunteered with Many Mothers, an agency in Santa Fe, NM supporting new mothers, I had helped many friends during pregnancy and postpartum, and had even attended one friend’s birth. I instinctively understood the complexities of new motherhood for as long as I could remember. So after that conversation, I immediately went online and found an organization in my area that trains and certifies doulas and I was enrolled in the program within days.
I have now completed birth and postpartum training through the Long Island Doula Association (LIDA) and will soon be certified. As an active member of LIDA, I am well connected with an extensive array of wonderful resources and services for pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. I am thrilled to finally be serving birthing people and families in my community as a professional doula and I am incredibly grateful to my amazing circle of doula mentors and colleagues for helping me build Zinnia Doula Services.
I live in Huntington with my two kids, a shaggy labradoodle named Bo, and a lovely little goldfish named Jimmy. I enjoy spending time outdoors, long dog walks, music, gardening, and cooking (and eating!) healthy food. I am passionate about educating, supporting, and empowering people as they prepare for labor, childbirth, and the transition that comes with a new baby.
